Todays-Woman.net Company Spotlight

Todays-Woman.net first opened its doors to web surfers in 2002, at this time it was a woman’s network. Since then it has become a writing community for both men and women, connecting writers from around the world in one virtual space.

Today’s Woman is administrated by me, Shawn DesRochers and Steve Reichard. The community is made up of those looking to be published, hobby writers, published authors, and publishers themselves.

Todays-Woman.net has a full online forum with over 56 communities built inside of it. We have writing lessons, a full directory of links to literacy resources, famous poets, online book store, book reviews, and over 150 calls for submissions to help writers get published, plus many more features. Though the main focus of our community at one time was a poetry community, todays-woman.net is now the online community for creative writing, fiction writing, story writing, poetry writing, writing contests, freelance writing, song writing and all other genes of writing. We have really opened our doors and broaden our selves to more than just poetry.

We have weekly writing contest that spark member’s creativity and we have a variety of writing lessons submitted by experience writers to help the beginning writer fulfill their dreams of publication. I feel that Todays-Woman is a wonderful learning resource for writers.

Todays-Woman also does personal interviews. We have interviewed such big names as artists Phil Roberts and Jonathon Earl Browser, Country singer Andrew Dean and Children's author Robert Munsch.

Administrating Today’s Woman has been a wonderful experience for me. Not only have I made some wonderful friends, my online experience has brought me success.

Todays-Woman has become one of the most visited writing communities on the internet. Ranked 6/10 by Google and 198,925 in Alexa, we continue to be the primary resource for writers, receiving an average of 7,197 to 10,276 hits a day.

Shawn DesRochers extensive developing of Todays-Woman.net has been rewarded with rave media reviews.

Testimonials from the members themselves have been most positive. As of June 1st 2005 Today's Woman now offers members the choice between a free account and premium service.

I truly believe the best of Today’s-Woman.net, is yet to come. Don’t go anywhere as we have only just begun.

I love Today's Woman. I think it is a good system they have set up. I like that you have to post comments on other poems BEFORE you can submit one of your own. I like the comments and I like the fact that there are rewards that people can get for their writing. The awards and comments keep me going back over and over. They are encouraging and uplifting and often times very supportive. I post two poems each night and comment on about 8 of them. I try to comment more than I post my own. I love the articles and I like the idea that you can also post stories after having commented on two other stories. I have recommended Today's Woman to a few of my friends, men and women. I love the site, visit it each night just before bed and am always excited to see my inbox in Outlook Express for the comments posted on my poems. Excellent site!!! And the staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a question and I got a reply back the same day and when I was still confused, they did not harass me or give me a hard time but explained it clearly and then I understood. I have it set as my homepage I like it so much.

Todays-Woman is a site to be very proud of, as it has offered a safe and creative haven for so many writers. Maybe I'm biased but to me the rewards of being a member are truly worth all the hours I have spent on site, both posting/commenting and doing moderator work. I find that the members are like a large family who enjoy interacting, having fun and trying to help each other. When I first joined I was made to feel so welcome that I found that I wanted to write more than ever before and through the encouragement of Rose and the members have found myself doing so.
So forget any of the negative comments from a few and just keep up the wonderful work you have done and keep Todays-Woman going as all imspiring writers need a home they can enjoy.

I’ve been a member of Todays-Woman for a little over a month, and I feel very fortunate to have found such an outstanding and supportive place to share my work.

My experience from the beginning has been nothing but pleasant. From the second I posted my first hello, I’ve been treated with respect and have had every question answered promptly and courteously. The support offered by not only by administrative staff, but also by so many other talented writers, has been incredible, providing encouragement and giving me confidence to continue my writing pursuits.

There are rules, as necessary in any community, but these rules apply to every member, including administrative staff. None are unreasonable and many contribute to a model that sustains itself, ensuring that poets and authors alike are given the opportunity to receive peer feedback as well as offer it.

There are many forums offering invaluable information for new and established writers alike. I’ve spent hours happily browsing, visiting the links that have been compiled so thoughtfully for us.

Todays-Woman is an excellent writer’s community, one which I've already and will continue to highly recommend.

Todays-Woman is the best writing site anywhere, because of it's wonderful people.

So many kind people on the site from the members to the staff they're all great.

And it's a wonderful place to share your poems, stories, articles. etc.

Todays-Woman has so many other things too such as a dictionary, famous authors and famous quotes sections and even an e-cards section.

Too many wonderful options to list and I too am very proud to be not only a member but also a staff admin but most importantly proud to know you Rose and all the wonderful people at TW:)

My name is Samuel E. Stone, and I just want to say that I find Today’s Woman site to be one of the best poetry sites currently on the web. I have been writing poetry for over 40 years and have seen and posted poems on many sites and in my opinion Today’s Woman is at the top of the list. I find Rose DesRochers to be a devoted professional with a passion of the written word and it has been a pleasure knowing her over the internet for the past year. She is down to earth and dedicated to promoting the craft of writing. I have also found that she has a real talent for writing herself. I just want to thank her for being there for myself and all the other writers with whom she has been a part of their writing endeavors...Thank you Rose...
