My son does very well in school but when he makes mistakes, he is very hard on himself. His teachers have tried to talk to him about it and so have my husband and I, but it doesn’t appear to make much difference. I was reading up about the characteristics of gifted children on Carol Bainbridge’s website http://www.giftsforlearning.com . Perfectionism appears to be one of the traits. Now, how do I help my son learn that it’s ok not to be perfect? Sigh!

Well I have seen how smart your son is my friend he has much wisdom beyond his years.
And I think he wants to make his parents so proud of him, which I know you already are, that he takes failure hard and it's tough to get him to realize it's ok to not be a perfect all the time.
I know things will work out because he has 2 wonderful parents that gives him so much love ((HUGS))

Email has been very beneficial as it has put me in touch with a few experts in the field of gifted children. His happiness is my first priority. I want him to know that I do love him and support him in everything that he does. Heaven knows that I’m not perfect, I make mistakes, and I think that he does know that. I’m interested in learning all that I can about gifted children so I can help him through life.
