Pedophiles Trolling in MySpace Raise Alarm

I read a recent column by Stephen Dick , editor of The Herald Bulletin and as a parent just let me say that I'm appalled. Steven Dick comments that MySpace and such sites are good because they allow a free flow of information and conversation.

What the?

Mr. Dick? Is the name appropriate or what?

Rose, now even I can see what's been tearing you apart the past few weeks with your daughter.

You're so right to closely monitor their online activities. You're violating their privacy? So what? Parents shouldn't run a democracy; it should be a dictatorship. My own son, now 24, has thanked my wife and me for being snoopy. At the age on 19 something clicked in his brain to make him realize we did it out of appropriate love.

What's better? Having you child 'hate you’ for a few months or attending their funeral?

If you don't want to monitor them for their own safety, do it for the safety of you and your spouse. If the predator can get to your child, what's to stop them from entering your home and doing whatever they please?

Because of the actions of a few, paces like MySpace, as well as many other sites, should prevent adults talking to children
